Looking at you via a networked camera

Cameras have become everyday artefacts, that are part of ever more social situations. By being integrated into digital information and communication technologies, pictures taken with networked cameras are easily transmitted from one setting to another. The ubiquitous use of networked cameras is explored with Belting's concept of the gaze, grounding networked camera use to embodied experience and a long history of image use. This approach allows to explore both the symbolic use of networked camera pictures, as well as the agencies specific media situationally take.
