On the embodied basis of Consciousness

The article deals with some conceptual issues that have enabled the consciousness research to widen its scope to new fields of inquiry and enter into a breadth of  interdisciplinary co-operation. The role of the bodily awareness as a reflection of the embodied mind is emphasized. It is conceived as a bridge that can connect the traditionally separated mind and body approaches in the attempts to understand the nature of consciousness. The clinical relevance of the embodied mind also is pointed out.
